Volvo sedan S90 S60

The Volvo S60 and S90 are short-lived. Next year, Volvo will stop producing its two sedans. The Dutch importer confirms this to AutoWeek.

Do you think a traditional sedan is the ultimate body style for a car? Then you can quickly put together a car to your liking at Volvo. The Volvo S60 and S90 will continue to exist for a while, but production of the two sedans will stop mid-next year. This is evident from AutoWeek’s inquiries with the Dutch importer. And more practically designed station brothers of that pair? They will stay for a few more years, it turns out. So the Volvo V60 and V90 still have a while.

Nothing is officially known yet about successors to the S60 and S90 and the Dutch importer cannot – or does not want to – tell us anything about this yet. Based on an anonymous source, the mostly well-informed Reuters wrote at the beginning of this year that Volvo has electric successors for the S60 and S90 in the pipeline.

Volvo S60 Old and New

The current Volvo S60 next to the first.

In the Netherlands, the XC40 was by far Volvo’s most popular model last year and this car is once again in the lead in our country. The Volvo V60 was sold 2,150 times in 2022, while only 266 new copies of the S60 were registered in our country last year. In the first nine months of this year, 295 S60s were registered compared to 1,445 V60s. The Volvo S90 accounted for only 44 registrations in 2022, while 385 units of the V90 received a Dutch license plate in the same year. In the first nine months of this year, 116 S90s were registered. The V90 achieved 221 registrations in the same period.

The Volvo S60 is available in the Netherlands from €50,995. For that money you can drive the S60 B4 with a 197 hp mild-hybrid drivetrain. The Volvo S60 is also available as a 350 hp and 455 hp plug-in hybrid. The Volvo S90 is only available as a 455 hp plug-in hybrid and costs at least €71,195 as a T8.
