You’ve probably noticed: the iPhone 15 Pro now has a new silent mode icon. Nice, but if your phone is always on silent, it won’t be of much use. This is how you remove it!
Silent mode on iPhone 15 Pro
We’ve gotten quite used to it in 15 years: the ringer switch on the side of the iPhone. If you set it to orange, all your signals will be silenced. And if you switch it on, all the phone calls and messages just come in loudly again.
However, this works differently on the iPhone 15 Pro. Thanks to the new action button, you no longer have a physical switch, but a button that can have all kinds of functions, from silent mode to your flashlight. As a result, your iPhone must indicate in a different way when it is in silent mode, as you can no longer see it from the switch. See there, the bell in the top left corner!
This is how you remove the bell
Not everyone likes that bell. Because if you almost always have your iPhone on silent, you will almost always see that bell. And then he is a bit redundant. Fortunately, you can easily remove the silent mode icon.
To do this, open ‘Settings’, and then navigate to ‘Hear and feel’. You will see ‘Show in status bar’ as the second option. When you turn off that switch, the bell icon disappears completely. You can still see whether your phone is in silent mode by opening your control panel with a swipe down from the top right corner.
Get more out of the action button
If you don’t use the action button for silent mode, you might as well make the most of it! Did you know that you can link multiple actions to it at the same time? You can read how to do this in our article: How to add multiple actions to the action button on iPhone 15 Pro.
