Saab 9-5 (1998) – Enthusiast Wanted

Looking for a big sedan with a nice, smooth engine, packed with electrical gadgets, with a relatively low mileage and for a reasonable price? How about this Saab 9-5?

If you like to pamper yourself, it doesn’t necessarily have to cost a lot of money. This Saab 9-5 proves that again. You can get quite a car for not too much money if you buy this one. The asking price is €1,950 and in return you get a very interesting story on paper.

The 9-5 in question may be 25 years old, but it has only driven 165,000 km. That’s not too bad for a car of that age, especially one that is made for long journeys. This is not just any Saab 9-5, but an SE. At the time, those two letters equaled almost everything your heart could desire in terms of equipment at Saab. Moreover, it is one with the blown 2.3 in the nose, which makes it a really smooth car.

Saab 9-5

Counting buttons!

0 to 100 km/h should be achieved in less than 9 seconds (factory specification 8.5 seconds) in this secretly over 1.5 tonne heavy Swede and the top speed is 225 km/h. A great highway cruiser, although you have to shift gears yourself in this one. One for the more sporty driver, perhaps. Turn on the seat heating for the coming months and enjoy. However, we can imagine that even without the seat heating you will sometimes break out in a sweat. If something breaks down, you may be far from home because of the demise of Saab. The supply of parts can cause problems. The last two of the five private owners had less than a year with the 9-5 and that makes it just that little bit more exciting.

Although on paper it initially seems like an attractive bargain for a wide group of drivers, this is more of a car that deserves an enthusiast as an owner. Someone who is prepared to face a lot of difficulties sometimes, but is willing to put in the effort to continue with it.
