In addition to the electric Mini Cooper

This is the heavily updated version of the five-door Mini. With an updated appearance and a new interior, the car can continue for a long time, but contrary to expectations, it also turns out to include a completely new rear.

Mini is following a path that we see more and more often in the automotive world. There is a new, fully electric model, which now has the model name ‘Cooper’ for the first time. That car is and will remain available only as an EV, but that does not mean that Mini is abandoning its petrol customers. In the future, they can continue to choose a three-door, five-door or Cabrio-Mini, but it will be a different car than the new EV. Instead of a completely new model, ‘fossil buyers’ are presented with a heavily facelifted version of the current Mini, a model that basically dates from 2013.

The last generation of the petrol Mini was the first Mini to also appear as a five-door hatchback, and it is that car that we are now seeing in a new form for the first time. Count on a firmly adapted and taut nose, of course modeled on the electric Mini Cooper. However, the big news today is at the rear, where this five-door Mini clearly also has rear lights and tailgate in the style of the new EV. This was not yet the case with a previously spotted convertible. A three-door Mini, also captured, appears to have the new butt retrospectively and under a very thick layer of camouflage. It could therefore be that the Convertible will soon be the only one left with rear lights in the current shape, although in theory things could still change.

Since the whole point of the facelift is to avoid investing too much money in petrol cars, we don’t expect a complete makeover from a technical point of view. Count on the engines that are now also supplied in the Mini, but perhaps in a new and more efficient form.
