Finally affordable EVs
As a news editor and coordinator, Lars spends much less time behind the wheel of new models than his test colleagues. The Hyundai Ioniq 6, which was unveiled in 2022, was already one of his absolute favorites last year, but the fact that the car is now actually appearing on Dutch roads and therefore also in AutoWeek’s test fleet has brought him great joy.
“I don’t know whether I like it or not. I don’t have to. It’s exceptionally cool to see, in any case. The character of the Ioniq 6 appeals to me – just like that of the Ioniq 5 – and the technology also scores points. , although for me the latter is secondary to the former. What else I am pleased about? The fact that it now really looks like relatively affordable EVs are on the way, some of which also have a nice retro design. a soft spot for many retro models: for the New Beetle and even for the PT Cruiser and the latest Thunderbird. Renault is launching a new 5 and the new conceptual Twingo that it presented this year also gets a big compliment from me. Affordable EVs are also allowed look nice. I am less happy when I see one uniform electric SUV after another that is launched on the automotive scene. Highlights from the company’s own fleet? Are there too. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the Buick Park this year Avenue. I still have to decide what will replace it. Perhaps a banana-shaped car that is not an Ioniq 6. To be continued.
