Audi wins Dakar with electrically powered RS Q e-tron

None other than Carlos Sainz senior has won the Dakar rally again. He did this with the electrically powered Audi RS Q e-tron.

A historic achievement: Carlos Sainz senior has won the Dakar rally for the fourth time, is the oldest winner ever (61) and he also did it together with navigator Lucas Cruz in an electrically powered tear monster. They drove the Audi RS Q e-tron, which has two electric motors from Formula E that together produce almost 400 hp. However, the RS Q e-tron is not fully electric: it draws its power from a battery pack that is charged by a 2.0 TFSI.

Sainz and Cruz crossed the finish line with an hour and twenty minutes lead over the number two. The Dakar Rally covered a total of about 7,900 km. Sainz and Cruz previously won the famous rally together in 2010, 2018 and 2020. This is their first victory with Audi. By the way, Sainz says he is still thinking about his future in rallying, so who knows, this was his last victory and perhaps even his last Dakar.
