The latter with combustion engines

At Audi, 2024 will be all about the arrival of the electric Q6 e-tron, but there is much more Audi news in store. Some of the new Audis in the pipeline simply have combustion engines. One of them is the new Audi Q5, which we can show you quite well in these spy pictures.
Audi will be launching many new or updated models on the automotive market in the near future. The current A4 family will be renewed and transferred to the A5 family, there will be a successor to the A6 with combustion engines, which in turn will be renamed A7 and the Q7 will receive – again – a facelift. Audi is also launching an electric A6 e-tron and A6 Avant e-tron and is also launching a brand new electric SUV: the Q6 e-tron. The Q6 e-tron is in a sense the electric equivalent of the Q5, a model that has been on the market for seven years this year. There is also news for that SUV: there is also a new Audi Q5. Indeed, just with combustion engines.
The Audi Q5 you see in these photos is very likely the very last generation of the Q5 that still has combustion engines. At least, in Europe. From 2026, Audi will no longer release new models in Europe that require petrol or diesel. If there is a future for the Q5 after the disappearance of the next generation Audi Q5 – so we are looking far ahead – it will take place outside Europe.

In terms of technology, the new Audi Q5 probably builds on the MLB hardware of the current model. Count on the arrival of mild-hybrid engines, but also on the availability of several plug-in hybrid versions. There will also be a sporty SQ5 again. We have even had that in front of the lens before.
Do not confuse the Audi Q5 for Europe with the Q5 e-tron. There is an electric SUV from Audi called Q5 e-tron, although Audi only sells it in China.
