Volkswagen Virtus Convertible

Did you find the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio a downright bizarre model? It can be much crazier than a convertible version of a crossover. We welcome: the Volkswagen Virtus Cabrio. Indeed, a convertible version of a sedan. Simply with four doors!

Cars like the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet, Range Rover Evoque Convertible and Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio are downright weirdos in the car world. They are all convertible versions of SUVs or crossovers and are therefore certainly not common. The Murano CrossCabriolet was defunct years ago, the Evoque Convertible is no more and the T-Roc Cabrio will not have a successor. Today, Volkswagen is making another contribution when it comes to quirky convertibles and is showing the Virtus Cabrio, a cut-down version of the Virtus sedan, but with four doors.

First of all: what is the Volkswagen Virtus? The Volkswagen Virtus is a model that we are completely unfamiliar with in the Netherlands and even in Europe. The Virtus was presented in South America in 2017 and can actually be seen as the sedan brother of the Volkswagen Polo. A four-door sedan with that name also now exists in India. The Brazilian branch of Volkswagen has now cut open the Virtus and has baptized the result Virtus Cabrio. Instead of shortening the car and removing two doors, the Virtus Cabrio has four doors, just like the sedan. That is special, because convertibles with four doors are extremely rare. To prevent excessive torsion, Volkswagen has temporarily installed a reinforcing beam.

Production plans are there – unfortunately? – not. The Virtus Cabrio is included in the Volkswagen do Brasil collection.
