The Toyota Corolla Cross turns four years old this year. Such an age often means that a new version will soon appear. In Thailand, Toyota has now presented an externally refreshed Corolla Cross. But will it also come to the Netherlands in that form?
The Toyota Corolla Cross debuted in 2020. That year, the Corolla family SUV was introduced for the Thai market. Although the model is not the same in every market – for example, the American and Japanese flavors have their own completely different front – the Toyota Corolla Cross intended for the European market in 2021 was optically in line with the version that was released almost four years ago. debuted in Thailand. Toyota has now given the Corolla Cross a facelift.

First of all: it is not certain that the updated Toyota Corolla Cross that you see in these photos will also come to the Netherlands in that form. Logically, the Dutch importer does not want to say much about it. For the time being, we should not expect any changes for the European Corolla Cross. In any case, the variant intended for Europe appeared more than a year after the ‘Thai original’ and so it is quite possible that the similarly refreshed variant for Europe will not appear for more than a year. That is nothing but speculation on our part for the time being, but it is not unthinkable.
Back to the novelties for the Toyota Corolla Cross. A lot is changing, especially at the front. Although the headlights do not undergo major changes, the rest of the front has been revised. The grille that started from just above the headlights and increased in width downwards gives way to a honeycomb-like structure that forms part of the new front bumper. The headlights are connected by an aluminum-colored decorative strip and the part between that strip and the hood – where the decorative strip of the old grille used to be – is filled by a plastic part in body color. Elements that resemble cooling slots have been installed under the headlights. The lower part of the front bumper remains unchanged. We do not notice any changes at the rear. By the way, a new GR Sport version of this updated Corolla Cross has also been presented, visually quite different from the regular versions.
The Toyota Corolla Cross is available in the Netherlands from €38,195. That amount is for the 140 hp Corolla Cross 1.8 Hybrid in Active trim. There is also a more powerful 2.0 High Power Hybrid. It produces 197 hp and costs at least €42,195, although you immediately get the higher-positioned Dynamic version. Since the Dutch market introduction of the Corolla Cross, more than 2,000 units have been registered in our country.
