In iOS 18, the Mail app is rumored to get a major update. You won’t even have to type your emails anymore. It does that for you!
iOS 18: Mail app will soon be able to write emails for you
Apple is planning to give the Mail app a major overhaul in iOS 18. At least, if we are to believe the rumors. According to these rumors, the following features will be included in the update: a better search function, smart replies for email and a function that helps you compose an email.
According to a article on AppleInsider Search will now be able to provide more information, revealing more contact information, locations, and saved documents when you start a search in the Mail app.
With smart email replies, Apple will use a large-language model (LLM) on your device. An LLM is an AI and is able to understand and generate human language. Siri will also work better with the Mail app in iOS 18 and can then generate email replies itself (if you give permission).
Furthermore, the Mail app also uses the new features that are coming to all text programs of IOS 18. For example, Siri can edit and improve your texts, according to rumors. Not much is known about this function yet, but reports say that you can use it to automatically adjust the style or tone of an email. For example, you could ask Siri to make an email ‘sound a bit more professional’.
Other interesting features rumored to be coming include automatic categorization of email (based on content) and an option to generate a digest of an email message.
