Many users have been waiting for it for a long time, but there is still no special WhatsApp app for the iPad. Will Meta still release a version of WhatsApp for the iPad?

A year ago, Meta announced that a special WhatsApp app was being developed for the iPad. The company already released a completely new version of WhatsApp for the Mac in 2023. The updated app makes it possible to make video and audio calls on the Mac. After the release of WhatsApp for the Mac, Meta released a test version of WhatsApp for the iPad.
Developers were asked to get started with this beta so that any software problems could be resolved. So it seemed only a matter of time before the special version of WhatsApp would come to the iPad, but a year later Meta has still not released the app. That will probably remain the case for the time being, because the company has no longer made any announcements about the application.
iPad not a priority for Meta
Clearly the iPad is not a priority for Meta. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads are all applications from the company, but do not have a special version for the iPad. Facebook is the only platform that has been released for the iPad, but that app has not had a major update in more than a year. The same applies to the beta of WhatsApp, which has also not received an update for a long time.
Developers who have already started working with the beta are not satisfied with the application. The test version regularly crashes and has other software errors. It is therefore unlikely that we will see an official WhatsApp app for the iPad anytime soon. That’s a shame, because it is also not possible to install the iPhone version of WhatsApp on the iPad. This is possible with Instagram, for example.
Still use WhatsApp on the iPad
It is not clear why it is taking so long for Meta to release a special version of WhatsApp for the iPad. The problems with the app may be so serious that the company needs more time to release the final version. Another option is that the project has been (temporarily) stopped, so we have to do without a special app for the iPad for the time being. That is quite possible, because Meta rarely releases apps for the iPad.
Do you still want to use WhatsApp on the tablet? Then you have to rely on the web version of WhatsApp. You use it via Safari, but it does not have all the functions that you can use in the app. For example, it is not possible to make calls via the iPad, you cannot view live locations and creating and viewing mailing lists are exclusive to the iPhone.
