SwitchBot Wallet Finder Card: AirTag for your wallet
The Wallet Finder Card from SwitchBot (24.99 euros) is an AirTag ‘in disguise’. It does not have the usual look of the Apple tracker, but is shaped like a debit or credit card. That is the big advantage of this AirTag look-a-like compared to Apple’s real tracker. But how good is this flat AirTag really?
The Wallet Finder Card is slightly thicker than a real bank card, but that is not a problem. We tested it in several wallets and it fits perfectly.
We also received the ‘AirTag pass’ without any problems in a card holder (with MagSafe) from Apple. Normally you can store two bank cards in this, but with the Finder Card, adding a second card became quite difficult. It fits, but then it’s quite difficult to get both fits out. So don’t do that.
You can use the Wallet Finder Card with the SwitchBot app or with Apple’s Find My app. Both apps offer pretty much the same options, but it’s nice that you have a choice. The SwitchBot app is also available on Android, so you can also track the map there.
Just like with the AirTag, you can play a melody when you have lost the Wallet Finder. You can choose from five tunes and each of the pieces of music is loud (and quite piercing) with which you will find the Wallet Finder (and therefore your wallet) in no time.
A disadvantage of the Wallet Finder Card is that you cannot charge or replace the built-in battery. According to the specifications, it will last you about three years, but unfortunately we were not able to test that.
The pass with AirTag function has an IP-67 classification. This means that it is dust and waterproof. You can immerse it in water up to a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Just like an AirTag, the pass can also be hung on your backpack or on your key ring.
SwitchBot Wallet Finder Card: Conclusion
The SwitchBot Wallet Finder Card is a great AirTag. But let’s be honest: you mainly buy this AirTag for the shape. It fits perfectly in a card holder or in your wallet and you don’t have to worry about it anymore. This Wallet Finder Card is a real solution, especially if you regularly lose your wallet or have left it lying around somewhere.
The melodies that you can play if you have lost the wallet (with card) are somewhat annoying and sound like a cheap birthday card with sound. But you can hear the tunes clearly, so they don’t defeat the purpose.
It is a pity that the built-in battery cannot be replaced. So after about three years (according to SwitchBot) you have to buy a new tracker. That’s a shame, because apart from the NFC functions, the card becomes unusable.
Do you have more SwitchBot devices? Then you can use the NFC functions on the card to unlock your SwichBot Keypad or Keypad Touch.
