Will Apple finally make a television? (we hope so)

A few years ago there were rumors that Apple was going to make a television and now those rumors are being fueled again.

Will Apple make a television?

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is once again planning to make a television. He writes this in his last Power On-newsletter. Apple wants to be more prominent in the smart home sector and, according to him, this is a direct result of that. Gurman also indicates that the development schedule shows that the television will only appear after the launch of the planned smart display. There has been speculation about that smart screen for weeks.

The only smart home components Apple has so far are the Apple TV and the HomePods. Apple is reportedly looking to add smart display products. The planned smart screen is currently expected in March 2025.

Apple’s Smart Home planning

Apple’s smart home planning also includes plans for a premium display attached to a robotic arm. Apple is said to be planning to launch this smart robot as early as 2026 or 2027. Depending on whether this is a success or not, an Apple television may follow later.

Technical specifications and price details of an Apple television are not yet known. But we can assume that an Apple television will be aimed at the premium market segment. It is also still unknown what special functions the television will offer. We assume that Apple will integrate Apple Intelligence to access apps and control other smart home products.

It is far from certain whether the plans for an Apple television will become reality this time. It seems to fit as part of a smart home, but it may also be that Apple will focus more on the Vision Pro in the future. We’ll keep an eye on it!
