Toyota delivers three millionth hybrid in Europe

Toyota has reached a nice milestone. The Japanese brand has delivered the three millionth car with a hybrid powertrain in Europe.

With the Prius, Toyota was the first brand to widely sell a hybrid powertrain vehicle worldwide. Here in Europe, the then still quite exceptional form of drive soon went round and nowadays almost every brand has a form of hybrid drive on offer. At Toyota it has been the case for quite a while and that has led to the counter in Europe already at three million sold hybrids.

The party number is a Toyota Corolla, a Hybrid in GR Sport version to be precise. That was received on Wednesday in Spain by the happy first owner. Today, according to Toyota, more than half of the brand’s cars sold in Europe are hybrids. In Western Europe, that share is even 63 percent. Of the Prius, the car that started it, 47,752 have now been sold here in the Netherlands.
