3 tips to last longer with your iPhone’s battery

If your iPhone is a bit older, or if you simply use the smartphone (too) much, your battery will be quite empty at the end of the day. If you don’t have a charging pad or socket at hand, it can be quite annoying.

From now on, do you want to easily get through the day with one battery charge? Then keep the tips below in mind!

3 tips to last longer with your iPhone’s battery

1. Use dark mode

When you enable dark mode on an iPhone with an OLED screen, it requires less battery power. Especially if you also turn the brightness of the screen down a bit. You can enable this function as follows:

  • Open the ‘Settings’;
  • Go to ‘Screen and brightness’;
  • Choose ‘Dark’ under ‘Display’;
  • Adjust the display scheme under ‘Options’ if necessary;
  • Tap ‘Back’;
  • Under ‘Brightness’ you can use the slider to adjust the brightness of the screen to your preference.

If you always turn on dark mode (and turn the brightness down a bit), you should keep in mind that the iPhone screen is sometimes less readable in sunlight.

2. Use WiFi as much as possible

If you’re somewhere that has a Wi-Fi connection, it’s better to use that instead of your own mobile data connection (if you have one). WiFi consumes less power.

Do you come to a place with a weak signal and lose the connection all the time? Then it is smarter to switch on Airplane mode. Because if your iPhone tries to connect all the time, it costs a lot more power.

You can set Airplane mode via ‘Settings > Airplane mode’. You can also enable Airplane mode from the Control Center.

3. Enable Energy Saving Mode

Perhaps the easiest way to save your iPhone’s battery is to use the ‘Power Saving Mode’ feature. When you use this setting, background activities (such as downloads and e-mail retrieval) are reduced.\

You enable the function as follows:
