Apple expands a standard application on your iPhone with a handy function in iOS 18.4. Curious about what is changing? This Apple app will get better in iOS 18.4!
Passwords
This week Apple released the first test version of iOS 18.4 for developers. With the beta, small changes in the Netherlands and Belgium mainly come to the iPhone. One of those improvements can be seen in an application that has been on your iPhone as standard since last year. With iOS 18.4, Apple brings a handy new function to the password app, which can also be found on your iPad and Mac (book).
Apple introduced the password app for the iPhone with iOS 18. The application is-as the name suggests-intended for storing your passwords. This way you can store your login details from different accounts, which are then automatically entered when logging in. That way you don’t have to remember the passwords, because that does your iPhone for you. Temporary codes are also displayed in the password app, which has improved that function in iOS 18.4.

Temporary code
In the password app you can not only save passwords and usernames, it is also possible to link verification codes to the application. These codes are necessary if you want to log in to accounts with two -step verification. In that case, only your password is not sufficient, but you also have to enter a code to log in. From iOS 18.4 you can see in the password app how long this code is still valid.
The codes in the Apple password app are often only valid for a short time. In the first test version of iOS 18.4, Apple has therefore added a green circle to the password app, which you can see how long the code will work. Is this green circle almost round? Then it is better to wait a while with entering the code, because it will almost be replaced by a new number. This way you prevent entering a code when logging in, which just doesn’t work anymore.

Release of iOS 18.4
Almost all verification codes are valid for thirty seconds, after which a new random code of six digits is formed. With the new countdown clock in the Apple password app you can see from iOS 18.4 exactly how many seconds you still have to enter the code in question. Are you curious about how to add passwords to the password app? Here we explain how you do that!
With iOS 18.4, Apple makes even more small improvements, so it becomes easier in the photos app to edit albums. The official release of iOS 18.4 will take a while, Apple has already announced that the update will only be released for all users in April.
