Apple Intelligence can finally be used in the Netherlands and Belgium! With iOS 18.4, Apple brings a number of changes to your iPhone. New emoji will be available, the photos app gets more filter options and the control panel has a number of new buttons. In addition, Apple Intelligence has been released in Europe, so that we can try out the new AI functions in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Apple Intelligence is available in languages ​​French, German, Spanish, Italian and English. That means that you can use all AI positions in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. The Dutch version of Apple Intelligence is unfortunately not yet available, but you can already try the technology here. We explain how your Apple Intelligence activates on your iPhone or iPad in the Netherlands and Belgium.
This way you call in Apple Intelligence
Have you installed iOS 18.4 on your iPhone? And iPados 18.4 on your iPad? Then you can use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone and iPad in the Netherlands and Belgium. For that you have to adjust the region and language of the device. The new technology is not yet available in Dutch, but can already be used here in English. Do you want to try the functions of Apple Intelligence? Then adjust these settings:
- Open ‘settings’ on your iPhone or iPad;
- Go to ‘General’;
- Choose ‘Language and Region’;
- Tap ‘Add language …’ and select ‘English (United States)’;
- Then go to ‘region’;
- Choose ‘United States’;
- Go back to ‘settings’ and open ‘Apple Intelligence and Siri’;
- Tap ‘language’ and select ‘English (United States);
- Finally, turn on the switch after ‘Apple Intelligence’.
Do you not see the switch behind Apple Intelligence yet? Then check whether you have set English (United States) as a preferred language on your iPhone or iPad. You do that by dragging the language all the way upstairs. Does the switch still not appear? Then you have to be patient, because it may take a while before you can engage Apple Intelligence in the Netherlands and Belgium. Open ‘Apple Intelligence and Siri’ again after ten minutes, then ‘Turn on Apple Intelligence’ should be there.
Many new functions
With Apple Intelligence you get a huge number of new functions on your iPhone and iPad. In the Netherlands and Belgium, all these features from Apple Intelligence are available in English, or another preferred language such as French or Spanish. Almost all applications are expanded with a handy writing aid, with which you rewrite, summarize or adjust texts. You can also put together images yourself in Image Playground, a new app for the iPhone and iPad. Siri is much more advanced due to new language models and the integration of chatgpt.
Do you regularly edit photos? In that case you get a handy feature with ‘well on’. This part of Apple Intelligence removes disturbing objects from a photo, with which the image can be processed easily and quickly. It is not yet known when Apple Intelligence can be used in Dutch in the Netherlands and Belgium. Do you put the preferred language of your iPhone or iPad back to Dutch? Then all AI functions disappear again, except ‘well on’ in the photos app. You can continue to use that feature, even if Apple Intelligence is eliminated.
