Qoros is a new model richer. This is the Qoros 7, a brand new SUV that shares its technology with a model already known from the brand.
In April Techzle was able to show the first images of the Qoros 7, a new SUV-like from Qoros. Although the Qoros 7 is a completely new model for the brand, the basis of the car is a familiar one. Under the skin, the car makes use of the Qoros 5, which is positioned lower in the market. From the outside, however, you don’t see much of that until you look at the windows. The side windows are identical to those of the 5 and the doors of the two are also interchangeable in terms of shape.
The Qoros 7 is 4.68 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.72 meters. The distance between the front and rear axle is therefore 2 centimeters larger than with the Qoros 5. In addition, the 7 is a little less than ten centimeters longer than the SUV presented in 2015. With regard to design, Qoros takes a new path with the 7. Both the front and back do not at all resemble those of other models of the brand. Qoros also opts for an extremely wide grille and headlamp units placed high on the nose. The car has a slightly sloping roofline that ends with a C-pillar painted in a contrasting color. This, together with the black B-pillars, should suggest a so-called ‘floating roof’.
The interior is completely modern, but not extremely surprising. Pontifically in the center console, an immense vertically-oriented 14.6-inch large display has taken its place, a Tesla-like panel that isn’t the only screen on the inside. After all, we observe digital instruments behind the wheel. The ventilation grilles are incorporated in a wide, flat strip in the dashboard.
The engine list will include two blown four-cylinders. The first is a 204 hp and 280 Nm strong 1.6, the second a 231 hp and 300 Nm strong 1.8. Unlike the Qoros 5, the Qoros 7 does become available with four-wheel drive.
Qoros
Qoros was put forward in 2013 as a Chinese brand that would conquer the European market. Due to disappointing sales in the home country, Qoros decided to first turn its attention to the Chinese market. The model range of Qoros in China currently consists of the 3, the Young and the 5. The 3 is a C-segmenter with a hatchback, a sedan and raised versions of both body styles available. Where the 3 is still a self-developed model, the Young is in fact nothing more than a Tiggo 7 from parent company Chery with other logos. The 5 presented in 2015 is indeed its own model, a 4.59 meter long SUV that remarkably serves as the basis for the 7 that Qoros has now presented.
