Apple is working on a new camera function, which only comes to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This is going to change.
Camera function iPhone 17 Pro (Max)
In 2025, Apple will again release four iPhones. The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max (or ultra?) Appear this year. According to rumors, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in particular get a number of major changes, because Apple only designs the Pro models for the first time in a long time. The devices get a much larger camera island than we now see at the iPhone 16 Pro (Max).
It was already clear that Apple is not only making changes in the camera island, but also improves the camera functions of the iPhone 17. For example, all iPhone 17 models get a 24-megapixel front camera, while with the current iPhones that is still a 12-megapixel camera. At the rear, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max get no fewer than three 48-megapixel cameras. Now it appears that we can expect another camera function with the iPhone 17 Pro (Max).
Filming with front and rear camera
Apple connoisseur Jon Prosser showed the new design of iOS 19 in an extensive video earlier this week. Because of the video we have a better idea of the new design that comes to iOS 19. That is not all, because the new images also reveal an exclusive camera function of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. With those devices it is possible for the first time to film with the front and rear camera at the same time.
With the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the new camera function looks like a facetime conversation, where you see the images of the front camera in one corner. The rest of the screen displays the recordings of the camera on the back. This is a big improvement, because it is not yet possible to record videos with both the front and rear camera. This will change with the iPhone 17 Pro (Max).
More about the iPhone 17
According to Prosser, the new camera function only comes to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It is not yet clear why the feature does not come to the regular iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air. Possibly that has to do with the processors of the devices, in that case the video function only works with the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Pro (Max). The A19 chip is expected with the iPhone 17 (Air).
It would be a striking choice, because many third -party apps already offer the opportunity to film with both cameras at the same time.
