Tap to pay on the iPhone
Apple brings the TAP to Pay function to eight new countries, allowing sellers to use an iPhone as a contactless payment terminal. This function has been available in the Netherlands since August 2023 and is now coming to Belgium. Furthermore, Apple has plans to further expand Apple Pay in ten other countries (including the Netherlands) with the Tap to Provision function.
Tap to pay on the iPhone first appeared in the US for the first time in February 2022. It ensures that iPhones are able to accept payments via Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards and other digital wallets. All transactions are encrypted and Apple has no information about what has been purchased or about the person who made the purchase.
