HomePod Mini 2 is coming this year (with this important improvement)

It has been five years since Apple released the HomePod Mini. The small speaker appeared in the United States in 2020, only two years later the HomePod Mini was also available in the Netherlands and Belgium. Since then, Apple has expanded the speaker with new functions through software updates, but improvements in the hardware of the HomePod Mini are not yet available.

That will change this year, because it is expected that Apple will release the HomePod Mini 2 at the end of 2025. The new generation of the speaker gets important improvements mainly under the hood. According to the usually reliable Apple connoisseur Mark Gurman, the following HomePod Mini will get a WiFi and Bluetooth chip designed by Apple itself. This gives the device support for WiFi 6th, while with the current HomePod Mini, it is still WiFi 4. With the new WiFi chip, the HomePod Mini is less bothered by a delay in the audio.

New processor

The most important improvement in the HomePod Mini 2 is the new processor. At the first generation of the speaker that is the S5 chip, which we saw earlier in the Apple Watch Series 5. This smartwatch was released in 2019, which means that the processor is now outdated. It is not yet clear which chip the homepod mini 2 will get, chances are that Apple opts for the S10 chip from 2024. At the first generation of the HomePod Mini, Apple also chose a processor from the previous year.

There is still little clear about other improvements that Apple is implementing at the HomePod Mini 2. There is therefore a good chance that the new processor will be the most important update for the speaker. In addition, it is expected that the sound quality is better with the second generation of the HomePod Mini. No major changes are expected in the design of the device, Apple probably holds on to the existing design.

Release of the HomePod Mini 2

The HomePod Mini 2 is reportedly announced in the autumn. The first generation of the speaker was presented at the iPhone 12 event, which took place in October 2020. Apple may opt for a release in October at the next HomePod Mini. That means that the HomePod Mini 2 will be in stores in a few months. It is expected that the second generation of the HomePod Mini will be immediately available in the Netherlands and Belgium.
