AirPods get long -awaited improvement (and it comes faster than you think)

The AirPods will soon get an improvement, which we have been waiting for a long time. That new function is probably faster than expected.

There will be a long -awaited improvement to the AirPods! With iOS 26, Apple not only brings new functions to the iPhone, but also the ears are expanded with more features. Apple has already announced the majority of improvements during the presentation of iOS 26. This way all AirPods get support for CarPlay and they are expanded with sleep detection. You can also use the AirPods as a remote control for the camera app.

In the latest test version of iOS 26, an improvement for the AirPods has been discovered. It is a long -awaited function, because the ears receive support for live translation. With this improvement, the AirPods can currently translate spoken text from another language into Dutch. This makes it much easier to communicate with people in a different language.

Live translate

In iOS 26 Bèta 6 an image has been discovered, in which Apple explains the improvement of the AirPods. Airpods can be seen on the picture with greetings in different languages around it. It is therefore certain that live translation is in any case available in English, Portuguese, French and German. It is expected that the function can also be used in more languages, but they may only follow after the release.

The image also shows how the improvement of the AirPods works. Blue circles are shown at the stalks of the ears, so there is a good chance that you will have to press the stalks to activate live translating. That means that the new function does not come to all AirPods.

The AirPods 4 and the AirPods Pro 2 have a stem that you can press. The first generation AirPods Pro and the AirPods 3 are probably not extensively translated with live translations, because they also have to do without the other new features of iOS 26.

Apple Intelligence

Live translation is already available in various applications, including messages, Facetime and telephone. There will soon be support for the AirPods. That is good news, because spoken text is translated live into a language that you do understand. You probably need one of the latest iPhones for that, because live translation only works with Apple Intelligence. Read here which iPhones work with the new technology.

Translating live into the Message app is already available in Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Jakans, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish as Apple Intelligence is enabled on the iPhone.
