The consequence of this new schedule is that consumers who are looking for a new iPhone in the autumn of 2026 can only choose from pro models. The entry -level model and the standard model of the iPhone 18 only follow about half a year later.

If the message is correct, this is the first time since the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 that Apple excludes a standard model of the annual presentation in September. The shift seems to be related to the appearance of the first foldable iPhone. It will probably be added to the iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the fall of 2026.

Two release moments

The new schedule means that the release cycle of the iPhone is split: cheaper models in the first half of the year, more expensive models in the second half. This change has already begun, because earlier this year Apple launched the iPhone 16th as a replacement for the cheaper SE models.
