Apple will bring back this feature from an older iPhone Pro in 2026

Not everything was better in the past, but some things are – the iPhones of 2026 will get this feature of an older iPhone Pro back.

This feature of an older iPhone Pro will return in 2026

What do the current iPhone 17 Pro models not have that older iPhone Pro models do? That’s right, they’re made of aluminum and not titanium. Apple introduced titanium on the Pro models in 2023, but stopped doing so this year. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are made of aluminum, which means that only one of the four models contains titanium: the iPhone Air. But according to rumors, titanium will return in the 2026 iPhone series.

The iPhone line has changed this year for the first time in a long time: the new iPhone Air replaces the Plus model. Yet more changes are coming in 2026. Rumors indicate that next year’s iPhone line will look like this:

  • iPhone Air 2
  • iPhone 18 Pro
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • iPhone Fold / iPhone Ultra

You will immediately notice that there is no ‘regular’ iPhone 18 listed. Apple is said to be planning to push that model to next spring. In this way, the company wants to avoid putting too many different models on the market at the same time. Anyway, according to the latest rumors, Apple will bring titanium back in the iPhone 18 series from 2026.

By 2026, half of new iPhones will again be made of titanium

For the past two years, titanium has been a key differentiator of the Pro models. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and 16 Pro are made of titanium. But this year, Apple switched to aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro, while the iPhone Air was made of titanium.

Titanium will therefore return in 2026 and will focus on the new foldable iPhone (Fold) and the iPhone Air 2. Since the basic model will be removed from the autumn collection, this means that half of the new iPhones in 2026 will again be made of titanium. Just as was the case until recently. The only difference is that previously the Pro and Pro Max were the only models with titanium and that next year they will be the only models without titanium.
