The new generation of the MacBook Pro has been presented! Apple has mainly given the MacBook Pro a major upgrade under the hood in 2025. The laptop adopts the design of the MacBook Pro 2024. This means that the device again has a 14-inch screen, where you can opt for a nano-texture finish. The MacBook Pro will be available in space black and silver, just like in 2024.
At the front, the MacBook Pro 2025 has the updated 12-megapixel camera that we previously saw on the MacBook Pro 2024. This has Center Point, so you are always shown in the middle of the image during video calls. While the laptop has a familiar design on the outside, a lot has changed on the inside. The MacBook Pro 2025 runs on a completely new processor, because Apple has opted for the M5 chip.
M5 chip
The MacBook Pro 2025 is one of the first devices to run on the M5 chip. With this processor, the laptop is much faster than the MacBook Pro 2024, which still runs on the M4 chip. Performing both single and multiple tasks at the same time is much faster with the new generation of the MacBook Pro. According to Apple, the M5 chip is about 15 percent faster than the M4 chip, and even 30 percent faster when loading graphics tasks. Multitasking is no longer a problem with the laptop, even if there are several heavy programs at the same time. The device comes standard with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
Apple has not made any improvements to the battery life of the MacBook Pro 2025. The laptop lasts 24 hours, just like the MacBook Pro 2024. This makes it still the MacBook with the longest battery life ever. Apple only released the 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro on Wednesday, October 15. The 16-inch variant with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips is expected to follow in the spring of 2026.
Release of the MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro 2025 has three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port and a memory card reader. We see no changes in this compared to the MacBook Pro 2024. This does not apply to the price of the MacBook Pro 2025, because Apple has a lower starting price than for the MacBook Pro in 2024. You can get the basic version of the laptop for 1,829 euros, for that price you get 512 GB of storage space and 16 GB of RAM.
