Photo worth seeing: Make energy transition easy

Photo worth seeing: Make energy transition easy

As an entrepreneur, Gerd Schöller is building more and more solar power plants against much resistance. He knows the obstacles and knows why many things don’t (yet) work for us. As an author, he writes against illusory giants like the dark doldrums and against the unspeakable power of ignorance and fake news. He wants to help maintain the prosperity of all of us: “Economic degrowth back to the level of the 1970s cannot be the answer to the challenges of the future.” He doesn’t want to give up, he wants to do something.

And he simply encourages you. Because everything we need to successfully shape the energy transition is already there: solar and wind power, functioning electric cars, storage, battery and transmission technologies and, above all, the smart meter as the heart of a new electricity system. With complete digitalization and the flexibilization of our electricity consumption, the energy transition will be successful and a lot of money will be saved, is the central message. At the same time, the reader learns why – in contrast to our European neighbors – we (almost still) have no smart meters or an intelligent network.

“Under High Voltage” is well and understandably written and full of facts from the first to the last page. The author shows what entrepreneurs, politicians and private individuals can and should do today. It’s about nothing less than the (energy) future of all of us. Horst Hamm
