Apple is working on a new generation of the iPhone, which will get a new design in 2026. You can expect these changes!
New design for the iPhone
In 2025, Apple will release no fewer than five new iPhones. These devices have not only been upgraded under the hood, the design has also been adjusted. For example, the iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever and the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) has a new camera island. The iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be released in 2026, which will once again have a modified design, according to rumors. These changes are coming to the case of the Pro models next year!
1. Smaller Dynamic Island
Rumors have been going around for some time that Apple is working on a modified Dynamic Island, which we will probably see for the first time with the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The devices have a smaller Dynamic Island, which gives you more space on the iPhone screen. There is little chance that the feature will disappear completely, because Apple cannot yet place the front camera and Face ID sensor completely under the screen. The company therefore opts for a smaller version of the Dynamic Island.
2. The back becomes one whole
Apple has made the housing of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max from aluminum and glass. This is especially visible at the back of the devices, where the color difference between the glass part and the titanium edges is clearly visible. Apple plans to reduce these differences with the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The colors of the glass and aluminum are probably more similar, so that the design of these iPhones will again form a whole in 2026.
3. New colours
Apple releases the new iPhones in a different color every year and this will probably be no different with the iPhone 18 Pro (Max) in 2026. According to rumors, the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max will appear in burgundy red, coffee brown and purple. These are once again striking colors, after Apple released the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in a bright orange color this year. The design of the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max will also have a bright design.
More about the iPhones of 2026
Apple will adjust the design of the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max in 2026, but this probably does not apply to the regular iPhone 18. It will have virtually the same design as the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 16. It is expected that Apple will provide all iPhones with a new processor next year, when the A20 and A20 Pro chip will appear. These are faster and more energy efficient than the current iPhone chipset.
Other improvements to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max include an adjustable aperture on the main camera, allowing you to better control the exposure of photos and videos.
