Apple is working on the iPhone Fold and the phone’s foldable screen has probably already been unveiled. This is what the foldable display looks like!
iPhone Fold
Big changes are coming to the iPhone! According to rumors, Apple is working on the first foldable iPhone, which may be released this year. It has been expected for some time that Apple will release a foldable device, as reports have previously surfaced about an iPhone, iPad and even MacBook Fold. The iPhone Fold now seems to be really coming, because the foldable display may already have been presented to the general public.
Every year the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) place in Las Vegas. At this fair, the most important technological innovations are shown to the world. This also applies to Samsung Display, one of the main manufacturers of the OLED screens used by Apple. Samsung has presented a new foldable screen, which we will most likely see on the iPhone Fold. This is what the screen shown by Samsung looks like:
Screen without crease
The new screen has a striking improvement, because the crease in the display is no longer visible. This is still the case with current foldable screens, so you see a notch in the middle of the display. With the new generation of the foldable screen, this fold is hidden and that means good news for Apple. It is reportedly a requirement of Apple that the crease in the display is not visible when the iPhone Fold is opened.
This was not possible for a long time, for example, Samsung and Google devices have a clear notch on the fold line. Samsung Display has now improved the technology, allowing the company to now also develop screens without a crease in the middle. This means that the iPhone Fold is one step closer, because the same type of screen is probably used on Apple’s first foldable device.
iPhone Fold is getting expensive
Apple does not use exactly the same display presented by Samsung. For example, the structure of the panel, the finish and the materials are all designed by Apple. The dimensions are also different, because the opened screen of the iPhone Fold is expected to be approximately 7.8 inches. When closed, the iPhone Fold has a 5.5-inch display on the front, which is slightly smaller than, for example, the iPhone 16e.
Other features expected with the iPhone Fold are Touch ID and the A20 Pro chip. You have to pay a lot of money for that, because the predicted price of the iPhone Fold is at least $ 2,400. In Europe, prices are usually even higher, so it will probably be the most expensive iPhone ever. We may know this for sure in the fall of 2026, that month is the expected release of the iPhone Fold.
