Google Maps regularly releases new features, but one part is still not available here. And that is secretly quite a shame.
Too bad: this Google Maps feature is still not available here
Google Maps is adding more and more smart functions worldwide, but in the Netherlands it remains noticeably quiet on one point. The integration with Gemini (Google’s AI assistant) is still not available in Google Maps. And that’s a shame, because this addition can make Maps much more useful.

You can do this with Gemini
Gemini in Google Maps works very simply. You open the app and search for a restaurant, hotel or location. With Gemini you will then not only see a row of reviews, but also some extra insights.
Google’s smart assistant gives you some kind of advice, just as if you were talking to someone who has already been to the location before. You then have to think of the recommendations on a menu at a restaurant or finding a good place to park. Gemini uses reviews and other relevant online information to give you these extra tips.
It remains unclear why this feature is still not live in the Netherlands. These types of AI functions often depend on available languages, rollout plans and local rules. Hopefully that will change soon, because this upgrade sounds like one of the first AI applications in Maps that will secretly be quite useful.

Google Maps now has this new feature
Gemini is not yet available here, but the Google Maps iOS app on the iPhone has recently been given another new function. This function helps you remember where your car is. From now on, the app automatically detects where you parked your car and saves that location. This location will therefore be displayed with a custom icon. The location remains saved for 48 hours or until you decide to drive away.
