Apple is working on the first iPhone for women
The first new iPhone we expect is the iPhone 17e. Apple will then probably launch the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone Fold in September. The iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 will follow in 2027. But Apple is also reportedly working on another innovative iPhone that is perfect for women.
We are talking about a second foldable iPhone, which for convenience we call the iPhone Flip. You don’t close this iPhone like a book like the Fold, but you close it on the short side. This makes the iPhone thicker, but above all also half shorter.
Small trouser pockets
This has little added value for men, because generally their pockets are large enough to fit an iPhone when unfolded. For women it is a completely different story. Because whether they put their iPhone in a pocket at the front or at the back, it always sticks out half of it.
An iPhone Flip would put an end to that once and for all. It would be the very first iPhone that fits completely in women’s small pockets. As far as we are concerned, women are the largest target group for the future iPhone Flip.
Possibly only one screen
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, among others, writes in the latest version of his newsletter ‘Power On‘ that in addition to the iPhone Fold, another foldable device is coming – a small, square iPhone in a clamshell shape. This iPhone Flip may only have an internal screen. This would mean that the screen is better protected and only visible when you open the iPhone.
On the other hand, it seems unlikely that Apple will make one foldable iPhone with an external screen and one without an external screen.
