Tim Cook teases ‘an important week for Apple’: these are the expectations
We already knew for a fact that Apple will release a number of new products in the week of February 2. But since a tweet from Tim Cook on X (former Twitter) we now know for sure. This is going to be an interesting week!
Tim Cook’s tweet states that ‘an important week’ is coming up and that it starts on Monday morning (with the hashtag #AppleLaunch). Monday morning, US time of course. In the Netherlands and Belgium we have to wait until the afternoon. The company will keep it a secret for a while what exactly Apple will reveal.
Apple is expected to make a series of hardware announcements spread over several days. There will be no keynote, but the products will be presented via press releases.
iPhone 17e: Multiple upgrades under the hood
One of the new products is the iPhone 17e. This is Apple’s more affordable iPhone, which is rumored to be getting some nice upgrades. Under the hood will be the A19 chip that is also in the iPhone 17. MagSafe is also coming to this iPhone.
The iPhone 17e also gets a C1X modem, which Apple first introduced in the iPhone Air. This modem is faster and more efficient than the C1 modem that Apple used in the iPhone 16e.
Expectations also say that Apple plans to add the N1 networking chip to the iPhone 17e. This chip is faster and provides better battery life and wireless performance.
New iPads with a big performance boost
A few new iPads are also rumored to be on the way. This will be a new iPad Air 2026 with a faster chip (probably M4) and a new, standard iPad 2026 that will mainly get a performance boost.
MacBook Air with M5 and a cheaper MacBook
Things are also getting interesting in the Mac area. Rumors say that Apple has a MacBook Air 2026 with M5 chip ready. In addition, there may also be a new, extra affordable MacBook. If Apple actually introduces it, this could well become the most talked about announcement of the week.
