Apple has updated the MacBook Pro! The MacBook Pro is equipped with the powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. This is what the new Mac looks like!
MacBook Pro renewed
A new version of the MacBook Pro has been announced! Apple has presented the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The new versions of the MacBook Pro were unveiled by Apple in a press release. The laptop has only been upgraded under the hood, because the MacBook Pro is available for the first time with an M5 Pro or M5 Max chip. Apple has not yet equipped any other product with these powerful processors.
The MacBook Pro 2025 already runs on the M5 chip, but the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are a big improvement. While the M5 chip supports two external displays, the M5 Pro chip allows you to connect two 6K displays. With the M5 Max chip you can connect up to four external displays at the same time. Nothing else changes on the screen of the MacBook Pro, which remains a 14- or 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display. Nanotexturing also remains available on the new MacBook Pro.

Much faster processor
The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are the successors to the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. With the new processors, the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro or the M5 Max chip will be approximately 15 to 25 percent faster than the MacBook Pro 2024 in 2026. That is not the only change, because the new M5 chips have a built-in part for running functions that work with Apple Intelligence. Apple has not done this before, so AI features work faster on the new MacBook Pro.
Furthermore, the MacBook Pro M5 Pro and MacBook Pro M5 Max have the N1 chip. This is Apple’s new chip, which is necessary for the device’s wireless connections. The N1 chip supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6. On the MacBook Pro M5 from 2025, this is still WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Other features such as the personal hotspot and AirDrop have also been improved, making wireless connections more reliable on the MacBook Pro in 2026.

Advanced feature
While the 2025 MacBook Pro with the M5 chip is only available with a 14-inch screen, you can opt for a 16-inch display with the new 2026 version. Both the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip and the MacBook Pro with the M5 Max chip are available with a 14- or 16-inch screen. This is a Liquid Retina XDR display with a peak brightness of 1600 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Furthermore, the MacBook Pro 2026 with M5 Pro or M5 Max chip has three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI support for a resolution of up to 8K and an opening for SD cards. You can charge with a MagSafe 3 charging port with support for fast charging. We previously saw similar functions with the MacBook Pro 2024.

MacBook Pro M5 Pro and M5 Max prices
Apple has made changes to the storage options of the MacBook Pro 2026. You get 1 TB of SSD storage and 24 GB of RAM as standard with the M5 Pro chip, and with the M5 Max chip it is 2 TB with 34 GB of RAM. With the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip you get twice as much storage space as standard than with the MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chip.
