Apple has made a change to its iWork apps for macOS: the old versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers have been removed from the App Store. Only the newer versions, which work with Apple Creator Studio, are still available.
This change follows the launch of Creator Studio earlier this year. With this subscription, Apple bundles its creative apps and offers additional functions in the iWork environment. Although the apps are still free to use, the design has been adjusted and paid elements have been added. On the iPhone and iPad, the ‘old’ apps had already been exchanged for the new versions.
Old iWork apps removed from App Store
When Apple Creator Studio launched, new Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps appeared in the Mac App Store, joining existing versions. On the iPhone and iPad, the iWork apps received an update, which immediately caused the old versions to disappear.
Users had to download the latest versions of iWork because the older versions no longer supported online collaboration. After several months, Apple removed the old versions of the Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps from the Mac App Store, so new users will only see the Creator Studio versions. This avoids confusion about which version to download and use.

Users who had the older version of iWork apps installed on their Mac can still find the apps under their Mac App Store purchases and reinstall them, but upon opening they will be prompted to upgrade to the newer version.
Universal apps
The latest versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers are now fully universal and compatible with all Apple platforms that support iWork. This means you can use the same application and features on your iPhone, iPad and Mac.
The earlier versions for macOS were designed specifically for the Mac. Therefore, Apple has decided to discontinue the old apps and keep only the universal applications for all platforms. This means that these apps are only available for Apple Silicon Macs with an M1 chip or newer. For Intel Macs, the old versions will remain operational, but they will no longer receive updates.
