Apple is integrating Apple Intelligence and Siri more deeply in iOS 27, with a notable addition to the Camera app. Rumors indicate that a new Siri mode will be available in addition to the existing functions such as Photo, Video, Portrait and Panorama, making the app even smarter for everyday use.
Based on Visual Intelligence, this mode makes advanced camera functions easier to access via Siri, without having to follow complicated steps to activate the function. We explain what you can do in this mode and what it is useful for.
Camera app gets Siri mode
According to various sources, the Camera application for iPhone and possibly also iPad will receive a special Siri mode from software update 27. This mode allows you to easily activate and use Visual Intelligence. In addition, the possibilities of Visual Intelligence are expanded to recognize name tags, nutrition labels and tickets.

Bloomberg reports that the camera button in the special Siri mode displays the Apple Intelligence logo, so you can immediately see that the smart functions are enabled.
How does Siri mode work?
The new Siri mode in the Camera application is nothing more, but certainly nothing less, than quick access to Visual Intelligence. This function can already be used on an iPhone by pressing and holding the camera controller or by activating it with the action button. The special Siri mode should make it easier to quickly use this AI technology in all kinds of situations.
New possibilities with Visual Intelligence
- Scan nutrition labels: Target a calorie and macronutrient label, log it directly into the Health app.
- Add contacts: Scan phone numbers or addresses on business cards and add to Contacts.
- Wallet cards: Create digital versions of physical tickets or membership cards for the Wallet app.

Existing functions of Visual Intelligence are retained: recognize plants, animals, add events to Calendar, or share visual information with ChatGPT and Google Image Search. The Camera Control retains access, but leads directly to this new Siri interface in the camera app.
