It’s been a particularly busy week for Apple full of new announcements. During WWDC 2026, we were introduced to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, watchOS 27 and tvOS 27. We also got a preview of Apple’s new Apple Intelligence functions and Siri AI.

Siri AI, restricted in the EU
The software update 27 brings a major upgrade to Siri, which now acts as a personal assistant with AI-like features. Users can have conversations with text and voice, ask multiple questions, and Siri can perform tasks such as editing and sharing photos. The interface has changed visually, with new animations and improved interaction via Dynamic Island and Spotlight on Mac.
The new Siri app makes it possible to view and continue previous conversations. Siri AI also provides support in writing and improving texts by making suggestions and adjustments based on the desired tone and structure.
Apple confirms that Siri AI on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS will not be available in the European Union at launch. Users in the EU can use general Apple Intelligence features, extensions in Photos, Safari and more, but not the full Siri AI experience. On other devices such as Mac and Apple Vision Pro, Siri AI is accessible to EU users, provided the device uses a supported language. This is because these platforms do not fall under the European Digital Markets Act. Previous proposals to offer Siri AI on iPhone and iPad in the EU have been rejected by the European Commission over concerns about working with competing assistants without infringing on privacy and security.
