A small number of new Apple devices have problems. Users are reporting specific bugs on the iPhone 18 Pro and the latest Apple Watch models. It’s not a major problem, but it is annoying for affected users. With the iPhone 18 Pro, the complaints focus on Face ID, which in some cases refuses service or responds very slowly. Apple has this now dissolved with iOS 27.0.1.
At the same time, owners of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 report that their smartwatch restarts randomly. This problem is now remedied with watchOS 27.0.1 especially for these new models.
Face ID issues on iPhone 18 Pro

iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max users are reporting multiple Face ID-related bugs in iOS 27. The most notable issue occurs when unlocking apps that are behind biometric security, such as the Passwords app, private tabs in Safari, or other user-locked apps.
If a Face ID attempt is unsuccessful, the screen freezes, the device no longer responds to touch and restarts automatically after a few seconds. The problem does not appear to be with unlocking the iPhone from the Lock screen, but specifically with Face ID controls within apps.
Additionally, users on the MacRumors forum and Reddit are reporting other Face ID glitches:
- The message “Face ID is not available” during the initial installation.
- Face ID sometimes ignores the “Require attention for Face ID” setting, which would allow unlocking even without looking at the screen
It is still unclear how widespread the bugs are. Apple has not officially acknowledged the issues, but they are expected to be addressed in an upcoming iOS 27 update. Currently, there is no way to fix this issue other than disabling Face ID and just using a passcode.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 restart unexpectedly

Since the start of sales of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 dozens of owners report that their watch restarts spontaneously. This happens during everyday tasks like using Siri, editing watch faces, opening Maps or the App Store, or recording a workout. In some cases, the restart happens even when the watch is not being used.
Several users shared “panic-full” diagnostic logs that keep showing the same cause: the Apple Neural Engine (ANE) hangs for about two seconds, after which a firmware watchdog triggers a kernel panic and forces the watch to restart. The issue occurs on both the original watchOS 27.0 build and the update downloaded during setup.
The restarts seem to occur faster when actively tracking a workout or when using specific third-party complications on the watch face.
Possible solutions: Temporarily use a standard watch face without complex third party widgets. In addition, if you get stuck, you can hard reset by pressing the side button and the Digital Crown simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds.
Apple resolved this issue with watchOS update 27.0.1 specifically for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
