GTO Engineering is working on its own retro Ferrari

GTO Engineering is currently mainly known for its restomods, but the British company comes up with its own creation. Under the title Project Moderna, it prepares a retro sports car with classic design influences.

Those who are wealthy and would like to equip a classic Ferrari with contemporary technology, have come to the right place at GTO Engineering. That company specializes in so-called ‘restomods’ of legendary Ferraris. They take a donor car, take it technically into the 21st century, make it look beautiful again and voilà. With Project Moderna the fork is different. That will be a completely unique creation of GTO Engineering.

As these design sketches already show, we have to go to Italy for the origin of the design. After all, the Moderna is unmistakably inspired by the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta. A car that GTO normally modernises with all its love. In this case it is therefore a proprietary base, consisting of a steel chassis with aluminum sub-frames. GTO says it will use carbon fiber for the body, while the doors and hood will be made of aluminum. The car gets independent suspension and heavy brakes. GTO does not release many details yet, although the goal is to keep the car in terms of weight under a ton and to use a self-developed V12 with four camshafts as power source.

There is not yet a word about prices or production numbers, but you can bet that it will be a very expensive and very exclusive car. Interested parties can already pass on their personal wishes. GTO Engineering says the cars can be put together according to taste. We will probably see the first physical copy in the new year.
