Volkswagen is expanding the delivery range of the hatchback version of the Golf with a new mild hybrid petrol engine. Just like the Golf Variant, the Golf Hatchback is now also available with a 130 hp 1.5 eTSI.
The current generation Golf is the first Volkswagen Golf to be available with a range of mild hybrid petrol engines. Whoever combines the 110 hp 1.0 TSI with an automatic transmission, gets the 48V-equipped 1.0 eTSI under the hood. Volkswagen already applies a similar recipe in the Golf Variant to the 130 hp TSI. There is a regular manual version, but those who combine the engine with a DSG automatic transmission also benefit from 48 volt mild hybrid technology and thus get the 1.5 eTSI – with added ‘e’ – under the hood. In the hatchback version of the Golf, the 130 hp 1.5 eTSI was not yet available, but that is changing.
Volkswagen is also bringing the mild hybrid 130 hp and 200 Nm strong 1.5 eTSI with DSG7 automatic transmission to the Golf Hatchback. The manual 130 hp 1.5 TSI also remains available. The starting price is € 36,790 for the Golf 1.5 eTSI in Style version. Volkswagen charges € 38,290 for the sportier R-Line. Both the Golf and Golf Variant also have a 150 hp 1.5 eTSI which has no manual and non-mild hybrid alternative. In terms of plug-ins, you can turn to the Golf for the 204 hp 1.4 eHybrid and the 245 hp Golf GTE.
