Anyone who wants to acquire a piece of car and television history can now bid on KITT. One of the Pontiacs Firebird that was transformed into KITT and then stayed with Michael Knight actor David Hasselhoff is up for auction.
In the 80s (and after that with the countless reruns) half the world was glued to the tube for episodes of ‘Knight Rider’. The series in which Michael Knight, played by David Hasselhoff, fights the villains of the earth with his talking Pontiac Firebird (KITT). KITT, which, among other things, could conduct entire conversations with Knight, could not be demolished and reached astronomical speeds, became one of the most popular film cars ever. The third generation of the Pontiac Firebird became more popular because of it, but of course none of the normal copies make it to the real thing. One of the undoubtedly many Firebirds that were transformed into KITT for Knight Rider remained in Hasselhoff’s possession and now the actor is auctioning that car.
Among other things, ‘The Hoff’ is selling its own KITT, along with other memorabilia, to raise money for its charities. Part of the proceeds will go there. KITT must yield at least $ 175,000 ($ 142,000). If more than 25 percent above that price is offered, Hasselhoff will deliver the car himself. At the time of writing, the counter is already at $ 160,000. The hammer will fall in less than three weeks. The auction house, Live Auctioneers, estimates that the amount could be up to $ 300,000.
Unfortunately not much information is given about it the car in question, but of course it looks exactly as you expect. Including the special ‘futuristic’ interior with numerous screens and buttons. Having a conversation with the car does not seem possible to us, that was only possible thanks to the magic of television. We also consider it unlikely that you can ram through a wall at 500 km / h without damage and we do not expect KITT to be able to take over the controls. No shame, you can watch it anyway.
