Although Ford carried the Escort in Europe in addition to its successor Focus until 2000, it was clear when the Focus was launched in 1998 that the Escort model name would soon disappear in our part of the world. However, you can still buy a Ford Escort in China. That car will soon be facelifted for the second time.
It’s been nearly eight years since Ford unveiled the Escort Concept in Shanghai, a preview of a new Ford compact sedan that revived the vanished Escort model name. Exactly what Ford intended with it was far from clear. After all, the brand already had sedan versions of both the Fiesta and Focus on offer in various markets, although car brands were never afraid to enrich the Chinese market with a type that overlaps existing models. A year after the launch of the Escort Concept, Ford released the production version of the new Escort in China. It is now undergoing a major facelift.
Last Ford Escort (Europe)
It is the second time that the Ford Escort has been optically updated. When Ford presented the new sedan version of the current Focus in China in 2018, it already gave the Escort a fresh face. Although the Escort was optically more in step with the Fiesta after that point session, the Escort has little to do with that model. The technique of the Focus II is hidden under the carriage of the Escort. In a way, the facelift brings him closer to the type with which he has a stronger family bond: the Focus.
Ford Escort (facelift 2018)
The modified Ford Escort, which can already be seen in these images, which surfaced in China, will have a front that resembles that of the current Focus, specially for the Chinese market facelift. We also see similarities at the back, thanks to the arrival of other rear lights and a wider chrome strip that connects the units. We don’t have any images of the interior yet. The updated Ford Escort is expected to be released in its entirety in Shanghai in April.
