KTM presents circuit sample X-Bow GTX

For some, KTM is perhaps best known for motorcycles, but over the years the Austrian company has also introduced various racing cars. This X-Bow GTX is the newest addition to that list.

The best-known car from KTM is undoubtedly the now 12-year-old X-Bow. A puristic two-seater tear monster without a roof. This brand-new X-Bow GTX takes a different approach. We see a completely new closed coach, which makes the GTX – unlike the regular X-Bow – much more like other supercars. The sharp lines that are so typical are also well represented on the GTX. You can’t argue about taste, but at least it looks fast again.

As with the X-Bow GTR unveiled five years ago, an Audi engine does its job in the middle of this newcomer. The GTX uses the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that we know from the TT RS, among others. In the Audi, that is good for 400 hp, but KTM pulls out ‘about 500 hp’. Combine that with the car weight of 1,000 kilos and you know that this GTX guarantees a lot of circuit fun.

It remains a fairly exclusive story for the time being, because KTM initially makes 20 pieces of it. This is necessary for the homologation of the GT2 version, with which KTM hopes to gain a high profile in racing with professional teams. The GT2 version is even better, with no less than ‘more than 600 hp’ power from the same Audi engine. With the regular GTX you, as the owner, can participate in various racing classes within the GT rules.
