New Volkswagen Multivan on display

The marketing department of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is very busy with it. Volkswagen has a new Multivan behind the scenes, a car of which we are presented with a new teaser round today.

Volkswagen is walking a different path that you are used to with the new generation Multivan. Normally, the Multivan is the passenger version of the Transporter, but that will soon be different. The new Volkswagen Multivan will be placed next to the current generation Transporter. Remarkable, although of course it cannot be ruled out that the Transporter will eventually be replaced by a model related to the new Multivan, or perhaps by the ID Buzz. The new Volkswagen Multivan is better than ever on a newly set design sketch.

If we are to believe Volkswagen, the new Multivan will be a lot more MPV than the current model. In any case, the new Multivan, which will be presented in mid-June, will be on the MQB platform. That may well be, the current generation Transporter and thus also Multivan are still on the platform that Volkswagen introduced in 2003 under the T5. The new Multivan has a split A-pillar like we found in MPVs like the Citroën C4 Space Tourer. Under the window placed in the cut A-pillar, we read both the name Multivan and Bulli. The bonnet is still quite short, but the new Multivan looks at least optically a less blunt snout than the current generation Transporter / Multivan. As with the current generation of Volkswagen’s multi-function bus, a straight line runs from the headlights across the side, which in the case of the new Multivan connects to the now horizontally oriented, wider rear lights. Of course, the new Multivan will soon have a set of sliding doors. According to Volkswagen, the new Multivan is more spacious than ever thanks to a larger wheelbase. The fact that the new bus is also growing in width helps.

Previously, Volkswagen already released the first information about the interior of the new Multivan. You can read more about this here.
