MG’s parent company SAIC is presenting a second vision for the future today. We are introduced digitally to the R RYZR, a futuristic vehicle that, according to its designers, combines a car with a motorcycle.

SAIC’s design department shows a very futuristic design study for its sub-brand ‘R’. In the Netherlands we secretly know R too, without you perhaps knowing it. MG’s parent company SAIC supplies certain R-models for its Roewe brand, including the Roewe Marvel R. According to SAIC, these R-versions stand above the regular models in technical and design terms. The Roewe Marvel R is traded in Europe as the MG Roewe R and so the R story is not completely foreign to us Europeans.

Back to the R RYZR, that is a special case. SAIC scatters with special descriptions as “[…] a vision of future mobility that pushes the boundaries between urban mobility and wearable technology”. Of course, that doesn’t say much. The RYZR is a very open car with two rear wheels that are close together and two narrow front wheels. The car itself is nothing else. more than an open cabin with two futuristic-looking seats inside. According to SAIC, the R is RYZR “[…] manoeuvrable like a motorcycle, but with the stability of a car”. The concept car is optically accompanied by an outfit that belongs to the colossus. Whoever wears that suit does not need a key or phone application to unlock the RYZR, according to SAIC So, keyless entry, but then you have to put on a crazy outfit for it.

Air bike? Sure, but it secretly looks quite interesting.
