YouTube gets ‘Continue watching’ section for videos à la Netflix

YouTube videos that you have not yet finished watching will soon appear on the website in the new ‘Watch further’ section. It is a small video player that can be seen at the bottom right of the homepage. The feature is already available to more users.

Watch YouTube more

You probably know it. You watch a movie on YouTube when you are suddenly distracted by something else. A phone call or someone knocking at your door. There is a chance that afterwards you will forget that you were watching a video and will do something else.

Video streaming sites like YouTube want to avoid that at all costs. On apps such as Netflix you have therefore had a function for some time that lists all series or films that you have already started, but have not completed. YouTube looked at it and saw it was good. There is now a “Watch Further” section on the YouTube website for some users to know 9To5Google.

‘Looking further’ can be seen at the bottom right

The section can be found at the bottom right of the homepage and it looks like a small media player. When you press the Play button, the part of the video you last watched will continue to play. Or you press a button that allows you to view the video in large. It works a lot faster than the old method where you have to track down videos that you have partly watched via the ‘Library’ and ‘History’ in YouTube.

availabilty

At the moment, the feature is already available to a larger group of users, but we don’t see it appearing in our browser yet. The feature is also only active on the web version and not via the YouTube app. Of course that can change later on. Do you see looking further already? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
