Sell new motorhomes and caravans at the highest level

Camping Netherlands increasingly purchases a new motorhome or caravan. In October, 36 percent more new motorhomes were sold than in the same month last year, according to figures from Bovag and RDC.

In October we wrote about the record number of new motorhomes and caravans sold in the first three quarters of this year. This ever increasing trend will partly be continued in October.

Figures from Bovag and RDC show that 136 new campers were sold in October, 36 more than in the same month last year. In October this year, however, 4 percent fewer caravans found a new owner with 364 units. The annual figures are still greener than grass. In the first ten months of this year, 8,208 new caravans were sold, while 2,921 new motorhomes were delivered in the same period. Compared to the first ten months of 2020, this year there are respectively 24 and 27 percent more. More new caravans have been sold this year than in any of the past ten calendar years while motorhome sales are at an all-time high.

Hobby and Adrian

Hobby caravans are more popular this year than last year. In the first ten months, 1,625 new Hobbies were sold. The brand’s huts therefore account for a market share of 19.8 percent. Fendt is in second place with 1,526 units sold (18.6 percent market share), followed by Knaus in third place with 1,074 units (13.1 percent market share). At this point last year, the positions of Fendt and Hobby had been reversed. Campers from manufacturer Adria are again in the lead, just like last year. With 364 units delivered this year, Adria is good for the first position and a market share of 12.5 percent. In second and third place are Eriba-Hymer (323 units, 11.1 percent market share) and Capron (262 units, 9 percent market share).

Occasions

While sales of new RVs continue to grow, those of used RVs declined 1 percent last month to 1,363 units. This brings the number of used motorhomes sold in the first ten months of this year to 14,827 units. That is almost 20 percent more than in the same period last year. The sale of used caravans in October, like new sales, lagged behind those of October last year. With 1,246 units, 8 percent fewer used caravans were traded in October. The total number of used caravans sold in the first ten months of this year with 14,728 units is 5 percent higher than in the same period last year.
