Aston Martin is launching a more modest motorized DBX. Until now, the sporty luxury SUV was only available with a V8, but now also gets a version with a six-cylinder.
Aston Martin is launching the DBX Straight Six in China, a variant that exchanges its 550 hp and 700 Nm biturbo 4.0 V8 from Mercedes-AMG for an in-line six.
The six-cylinder stamps out 435 hp and 520 Nm in the new Chinese variant of the Aston Martin DBX. 115 units less than the version with V8, but enough to accelerate the SUV to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The eight-cylinder DBX gets that job done in 4.5 seconds. The top speed of the DBX Straight Six is 291 km/h. Striking: the six-in-line is equipped with a 48v starter generator that temporarily supplies 250 Nm of pulling power.
The drivetrain is well known. Aston Martin purchases the six-in-line from Mercedes-AMG. The powertrain is also in various AMG 53 models. It is not yet known whether Aston Martin will deliver the DBX Straight-Six in Europe.
