Parking in the city: these are the most expensive permits

Paid parking: there is no escaping it in many Dutch cities. Residents are also affected to a greater or lesser extent. AD.nl listed the most expensive parking permits in the Netherlands. There are also some surprising place names among them.

Data site LocalFocus investigated all 352 municipalities in the Netherlands and looked at which places residents need a parking permit to park their car. When it comes to parking costs, there is always the same usual suspect: Amsterdam. This is no different in the case of parking permits. Car owners who live in the heart of Amsterdam within the Singel may deduct €567.48 per year for a parking permit. In Utrecht, which is also working hard to ban the car from the center, the situation is not much better with a maximum annual amount of €442.08. If we look at the rest of the Randstad, it is a lot cheaper in Rotterdam and The Hague with a maximum amount of €115.20 and €64.80 respectively to give your car a place.

Nevertheless, the municipalities with parking permit zones are in the minority. In about six out of ten municipalities you do not have to pay for a parking space at all, even though this usually concerns the smaller municipalities. In addition, some municipalities apply that residents must apply for a permit, but there are no costs involved. This applies to the municipalities of IJsselstein and Valkenburg, among others.

Per province these are the most expensive places to have a parking permit. Please note: this is always the most expensive amount. Sometimes there are cheaper zones within a certain place to apply for a parking permit.
