Polestar 2 drivers, here’s your next car: the Polestar 3

Well, the Polestar 3 is of course not only intended for Polestar 2 drivers … With the upcoming plug-in SUV, the Swedish electric brand hopes to attract new customers. And the car does so with a clearer Polestar face.

Polestar 2 drivers, here’s your next car: the Polestar 3

The Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 are based on Volvo study models: the Volvo Concept Coupé and the Volvo Concept 40.2 respectively. This means that the design language of the parent company still undeniably prevails. Both cars look like Volvos with no logo in the grille.

Polestar abandons Volvo design language

That will change from next year. Polestar comes with its own design vocabulary, which we got a taste of in the Precept. The T-shaped daytime running lights of the Polestar 1 and 2 will remain, but then split over two separate lamp units. There is no longer a traditional grille, only a narrow surface that hints at it.

Polestar 3 will be launched as early as 2022

Polestar will now introduce a new model every year: in 2022 it will be the 3, in 2023 the 4 and in 2024 the 5. We saw the latter some time ago and will be a sporty-looking sedan with Tesla Model S / Porsche Taycan traits . We haven’t seen a picture of the 4 yet, but that will be an SUV under 3 (yes, the Polestar naming is confusing).

Electrical equivalent of the Volvo XC60

The Polestar 4 is the equivalent of the Volvo XC40, so we have to compare this Polestar 3 with the Volvo XC60. The model sits on a completely new platform, is built in the United States and is said to be one of the most environmentally friendly cars ever. In the long term, highly autonomous driving will be possible, according to Polestar, using a LiDAR sensor in the roof.
