Lancia reportedly sees Mercedes-Benz as its great example. The brand is realistic enough not to aim for the sales figures of the Germans, but does see something in the positioning and style of Mercedes.
At least that is what CEO Luca Napolitano says to Automotive News Europe. “We are working towards a benchmark, and that benchmark is Mercedes,” he is said to have said. “I don’t mean that we want to compete with Mercedes, because that would be naive. Mercedes is an example for us, however.”
Napolitano also says he wants to focus more on profitability than on sales volume. That’s a good thing, because we already know that there are three models in the barrel for Lancia for the time being. The first should succeed the Ypsilon in 2024, the only model that Lancia (in Italy) still has today. A compact crossover should be added to the range (!) in 2026, a hatchback in 2028. In any case, we already know for sure that one of them bears the name Delta.
