Honda and Dongfeng build EV factory in China

Honda and Dongfeng want to build a factory in China that will focus entirely on the construction of electric cars.

Dongfeng-Honda is Honda’s largest joint venture in China, alongside GAC-Honda. With Dongfeng, Honda announces the construction of a new EV factory. That facility should be located where the two already have a factory, and which has been in the news more in recent years. That’s right: in Wuhan. The location will have a floor area of 630,000 square meters and should put 120,000 electric cars on the road every year from 2024.

Which electric cars, you ask? Well, for starters, an electric version of the model we call HR-V, the e-NS1. However, Honda also showed a series of electric concept cars last year, so between now and 2024 the Chinese will undoubtedly be presented with even more electric production models. There is no word yet on plans to bring those cars to Europe. On the contrary: in April last year there would have been no plans at all to expand the European electric range.
